Airfield Closures

Old Sarum has lost its fight and its looking like the wonderful airfield at Nottingham will go the same way. The land owners at Nottingham are Vistry Homes and they have given notice to all the businesses operating from the airfield, and all flying activity will cease in June. The planning application becomes much easier then as building houses on a "disused" airfield is obviously a good decision! I flew in last week and its a thriving proper airfield with a large number of visitors and locals sitting outside the café in the sun watching the activity. There is huge support for the airfield from the local community but if you read the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan it pretty well fails to acknowledge that there is (or even was) an airfield there at all. Its a disgrace!
